THE 17th City Council approved on first reading the proposed P5.1 billion annual budget for 2014.
The proposed total appropriations for next year is pegged at P5,165,430,052, up by 13 percent or P597.2 million as compared to the 2013 budget of P4,568,189,122.
Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chair of the committee on finance, ways and means, said they had to convert the special session on Friday morning to a regular session to approve the annual budget proposed and submitted by the executive department last week.
Dayanghirang said 80 percent of the total budget goes to general fund proper, with an allocation of P4,147,933,539.
Other appropriations, he said go to economic enterprises (P103,824,815) and development fund (P913,671,698).
He said the first committee hearing for the proposed budget is set today.
“We need to work double time on this. Target naming matapos kami by first week of December,” Dayanghirang told Sun.Star Davao.
