  1. The new city hall is a bit impressive. its one unusual government office..but its indeed great since once finished, it will become the next icon of tagum…the city is really serious in gearing towards becoming a highly urbanized metroplis in davao//

  4. ‘Davao’ now a brand of dark choco in US

A CHOCOLATE bar recently distributed in the United States is named after Davao City.

Councilor Peter Laviña, who presented pictures and data regarding the product, bared this Tuesday.

The Davao 77 percent Dark Chocolate is among the newest addition to Askinosie’s chocolate lines that were launched last January 30 in Springfield, Missouri.

“Last November 13, 2008, I and City Agriculturist Rocelio Tabay witnessed the first shipment of Davao cocoa beans to the US. Charita Puentespina and cocoa farmers around Malagos and Calinan consolidated seven tons of cocoa beans for their first export to the US,” Laviña said.

He added the cocoa was grown chemical-free with the assistance of Mars Cocoa Development Center at Malagos.

The cocoa beans buyer was Shawn Askinosie, a lawyer who has become one of America’s top leading chocolate manufacturers.

“This successful effort created new opportunities for Davao cocoa farmers, breaks new market in the US and carves a new name for Davao as a premium brand of exotic chocolate,” Laviña said.

He added that amid the gloomy picture of global recession, here is one development worthy of praise for the city.

  6. i’ve been to davao last week, it was one of the best cities i’ve been to here in the philippines. the people in davao are so honest even the tricycle drivers and taxi drivers, the city also offers a lot of great tasting food like durian( for locals maybe =D but not for me), the people are so friendly and nice the only thing i don’t like in davao is the very hot weather, i mean very hot weather. there also some construction going on in davao, they also have some skyscrapers which look pretty nice.they also have a nice transportation system. great tourist spots (i suggest you to go to samal island, eden and philippine eagle.. awesome place) \

davao is so far one of the best cities i’ve been to next to cebu and valenzuela hahahha..=D
