Davao City is the crown jewel of the Philippines - constatly listed as one of the most desirable cities in Asia to live in, and for good reason. Just right beside the the enchanting Mount Apo and the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao City is well known as a leader in peace and order and environmental issues, and is a "Green" city in every respect.
Sports and recreational venues, educational opportunities, cultural events and institutions, and a robust commerce augment the seat of Davao City.

Davao enjoys a weather that remains soothing most of the year. Its climate is characterized by a uniform annual distribution of rainfall, temperature, humidity, and air pressure.
Davao is typhoon-free. Protected by several mountain ranges, Davao is virtually out of the typhoon belt.
This discerning characterisitcs, makes Davao unique from the rest of the archipelago. Davao being virtually typhoon-free, lightweight clothing is a must. Whatever your purpose, Davao is the ideal destination to look forward to.
Davao City is populated by an even mix of tribes, from all over the Philippine archipelago and traders from the four corners of the world. The average Davaweño can easily converse and understand English, and it is fluent Tagalog and Bisaya or Cebuano.
The solemn rituals of the tribes, their rhythmic dance steps and chanting music are intimately interwoven with the rich customs and traditions of migrants. There are two main festivals, the Araw Ng Dabaw Celebrations every March and the Kadayawan Festival in August.

Davao City is Most Culture-Friendly City

NOW it is truly validated by no less than the Office of the President, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and even internationally by the UNESCO itself that Davao City is indeed an outstanding culture-friendly city and that Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte is an outstanding culture-friendly local government official.
This recognition was bestowed upon the City Government of Davao and Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte on March 27, at Malacañang Palace, Manila in celebration of World Theater Week. I received the award on behalf of Davao City and Mayor Duterte as the OIC Director of the Museo Dabawenyo, together with Mr. Oca Casaysay of the Kaliwat Theater Collective.
The beautifully sculpted and very heavy “Sarimanok” trophy was designed by National Artist for Sculpture, Dr. Abdulmari Asia Imao. These trophies were handed out by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, on behalf of the President, and NCCA Chair and Department of Education Undersecretary Vilma Labrador to outstanding artists, media organizations, and local government units.
Davao City was the only city from the Visayas and Mindanao to receive the most culture-friendly LGU recognition. All the other LGUs were either provinces or municipalities.
