  1. i heard may 6 level extension din daw ang g-mall na i.construct doon sa adjacent na bakanteng lot? yung may mga ukay2x? true?

  2. is it really true na may SM North mall? wala pa talaga kasi mga press releases eh..i think may proposal na din na SM sa gensan!

  3. its great that there will be more malls in davao, good news for the workforce! better if more high-rise commercial bldgs would also sprout na!

  4. ang daming progress ng davao! except the airport! so pangit kasi poorly funded! its like in every wall in the DIA merong posters and advertisements…so dirty!

  5. Hi, this is Davao hive! please do post recent strip malls that you think is interesting enough for others to know! 🙂

  6. Hi hivers, this is Davao hive! Great day for the rising Prince of the Orient Pearls, Davao City! Please do post recent strip malls that you think is interesting enough for others to know!

      1. mas malakas talaga ng NCCC when it comes to supermarket at shopping destination sa Davao City…

  7. Saudi team explores Davao agri potentials
    By Carmelito Q. Francisco Published : 2008-11-03

THE government of the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia and its private sector have sent a seven-member technical team to the davao Region to look into the possible investment areas in the agriculture sector.

Based on the report from the regional office of the Department of Agriculture, the team arrived on Thursday and has started discussing with local agricultural officials and private entities on their objective.

Ahmed M. AlSadhan of the kingdom’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and team leader, said the group is interested on investing in growing corn, rice and wheat. Another agricultural sub-sector that that the group wants to explore is fishery and livestock, AlSadhan said.

“We realized the potential of your land and we will take this opportunity to make a strategic frame for agricultural investment here in your area,” he added, pointing out that the visit is just a start as they intend to come to the region especially if something is eventually started by the group.]

I’M PROUD TO BE A DABAWENYO!!!

    1. Meron naman mall sa toril! 🙂 Sunscor Grocerama! hahaha..anyway, the Gaisanos are actually planning to build a shopping center there.

  9. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

No one ever regarded the First of January with indifference. It is that from which all date their time, and count upon what is left. It is the nativity of our common Adam. ~Charles Lamb

  10. A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE: New Year’s eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights. ~Hamilton Wright Mabie

  11. New Year’s Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. ~Mark Twain

    1. The Centerpoint Mall in Matina is not owned by NCCC, they only lease there. the mall is still owned by the Cruz Family

    1. hey malaki ang SM North! its twice the size of SM City Davao..it cant be a savemore ehehehehe

  12. I READ FROM THE NEWS THAT SM CITY LANANG IS STILL ON THE DRAWING BOARD. SANA THEY WILL MAKE BIGGER AND COMPARABLE TO SM MALL OF ASIA PARA NAMAN MAY PRESTIGE ANG MALL INDUSTRY NG DAVAO AND HINDI LANG MERELY FOR SHOPPING BUT AS PART OF THE TOURISM AS WELL 🙂

    1. Mr. hirono-kun is right. 🙂 if kagaya sa MOA ang SM North Mall Davao, patay ang ibang malls, or patay ang SM North Mall na yan. pero ang taas ng population rate ng davao, not to mention the soo many koreans that will penetrate davao within the next few years..:)

    1. hindi naman siguro…the population is quite big already..i dont think they would build it in the first place withtout undergoing feasibilities diba?

    2. i think davao is already ripe for another SM..in fact overr ripe na nga eh hehehe. davao’s crowd is hungry for fashion, style, and new mall images..like al frescos and sky gardens 🙂

    3. for your information,.. davao is the largest in terms of population out side of metro manila,.. davao has 1.5 million population,.. magbasa ka nga ng mga may kwenta na bagay pra may matutunan ka,.. research ka muna ,..

    1. will be such mall?? i heard a supermarket will be built there and a small condo this year./. stil no high rise building there eh? hehe

  14. hahahah….Davao the best!!!

Preserve the beauty of green in Davao!!!

    1. real progress? factories are far bettter than malls, surely manufacturing activities arising from factories’ production generate more VALUE

in davao are: shipbuilding, silicon chips, automobile, and recreational theme parks, theses are has huge market not only in the philipines also for EAGA members.

    1. sensible comment! im not entirely a fan of malls. a large pie of its income inures back to the oligarchs. we need to support small business establishments not renting on malls. as this would benefit a greater number of city dwellers in davao.

  26. This is partially from a letter I wrote to Gaisano Capital Group. Some words omitted or changed to fit readers here.

    Hello fellow Davaoains,
I am an immigrant to the Philippines for three years this coming next month. As I am sure you are aware that Americans (especially non Filipino Americans) can be very frustrated with some of the cultural differences between Westernized countries and the Philippines. As I am often told, “you are not in America anymore”. I’m sure if those same people were in the US they would be just as frustrated if people there would say to them “you are not in the Philippines anymore” as excuses for ‘cultures sake’. These comments this far in our worlds development globally is irresponsible at the least, bad for business all of the time.

I am happy Gaisano is aware of the needs of some of it’s customers here in Mindanao. My wife (a Filipina) prefers to shop at NCCC because their prices are a little lower with products she is looking for yet I find there isn’t enough products at NCCC that I can relate to so we often shop at both stores. I prefer Robinson’s setting to all others but their prices are that of high class grocery stores in the US. I find that SM is just an expensive NCCC so we rarely go there although SM has a better ambiance than GMall and NCCC not to mention, soap in the mall’s restrooms. I am also appreciative of SM and Robinson’s attention to the sound volume, customer service (from all employees) and cleanliness more so than GMall and NCCC. I won’t mention Felcris. I give them….is there any grading worse than ‘F’?

My point is that where we buy our food should be cleaner than our own homes (if possible). They should be as pleasant as our homes (as much as possible). They could be more comfortable.

In America grocery store’s music and announcements are not so loud that you can’t hear the person next to you speaking at a normal tone. There are restrooms available because customers never know when they will need to go. Most of us older shoppers know we will need to go more often. With that, us older shoppers also need to sit now and then. Do we need to leave the store and stop shopping (stop spending our money on your products) because we need to take care of personal needs such as the for mentioned? Should we have to leave because the store has so little ventilation that the meat section smells like dead rats? My final question would be, should we as customers be less important to employees that they get in the way of shoppers with whatever they are doing, not answer questions, don’t count back change and say thank you? Should we be submitted to these same encounters with store management?

It is very clear to me that Robinson’s must have gone to American or European grocery stores and malls and studied them because I almost never feel frustrated or overwhelmed when shopping at their stores. It is unfortunate that their prices are so much higher than what average shoppers can afford.

My comments here are not to put Gaisano, NCCC, SM or Robinson’s down as much as it is to give my input as a regular shopper that expects these businesses respect and show concern to my needs as a weekly investor in these companies. I think it is called ‘valued customers’. Please take a look at my concerns. They are real. Westernized companies and countries have set laws to protect shoppers and it’s citizens from harmful sound levels, dirty stores, stores that don’t provided clean and safe restrooms within their business and high levels of respect for its customers because that is just smart business. Just as smoking is understood as a health issue, so is high sound levels and unclean public places. Health departments in other countries are aware of restrooms that don’t have soap, toilet seats, toilet paper and toilet seat sanitary covers.

    Neat Gifts
    Davao City

p.s. I didn’t use my birth name because of recent news of some Filipinos complaining about non Filipinos view of problems here in the Philippines. I am a permanent resident and feel my concerns should be heard just as loud as those that were born here. I hope my concerns will be heard regardless of putting myself and my family at risk of persecution.

  27. malls lang walang business center??? so lahat ng tao dyan magwowork as sales lady sa mall hahahaha….i was born in davao city but i grew up in manila and got a degree and have work…but i still love davao…

hopefully davao city will have a business park like makati, the fort in taguig etc…

davao is a nice place to relax i usually have my vacation there…

  28. im not entirely a fan of malls. a large pie of its income inures back to the oligarchs. we need to support small business establishments not renting on malls. as this would benefit a greater number of city dwellers in davao.
