THE FIRSTsports and country club in Mindanao, located at the Davao Riverfront in Ma-a Diversion Road and developed by Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Inc., (SLRDI) is set to open next month.
Madeline Marfori, president of Orchard Marketing Corp. which is the exclusive marketing arm of SLRDI projects, said the P50 million project is in the 164-hectare property of Sta. Lucia in Barangay Mandug/Indangan.
Situated in the property is Rancho Palos Verde golf course, a joint venture project of the company and the Dizon Farms.
However, she said when it was conceptualized last year the price of fuel skyrocketed to $US154 a barrel creating a major hindrance for families of golfers to go there.
The Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country club boasts of a beach type swimming pool, sports facilities for indoor basketball court, indoor tennis court, indoor badminton, billiard hall, and an eight-lane and ten-pin bowling alley. Other features and amenities include a fitness gym, a fine dining restaurant, and a function hall.

Mindanao Trade Expo set in August
THE Mindanao Trade Expo will be staged again in August this year in Davao City after it went on hiatus last year.
In a press conference Wednesday at the Apo View Hotel, Ann Pamintuan, president of the Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc.–the organizer of the event, said it was revived to help other budding entrepreneurs of Mindanao.
“The board has decided to have a re-launch of the expo after we have received several suggestions and inquiries from previous exhibitors and other stakeholders, and we decided to bring it back,” Pamintuan said.
The Mindanao Trade Expo is one of the biggest trade exhibitions in Mindanao which showcases and promotes products ranging from processed food, fresh produce, ornamental plants, home accents, furniture, handicrafts, and fashion accessories.
“We have realized the need of micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs for a venue to showcase their wares; that is why we made sure to stage again the Mindanao Trade Expo,” Pamintuan said.
Sketches of lavishly designed exhibition halls and a pompous opening ceremony were also shown to the press.
The event will be staged on August 13 to 16 at the Convention Hall of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. (CPM)
